Introduction
Definition of a viruses
Viruses are the smallest intracellular microorganism that containing only one kind of nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) as their genome.
Unlike bacteria, fungi, or parasites, a virus does not replicate by binary fission but rather by synthesis and assembly. Viruses neither have organelles nor can they make energy. Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites that depend on the biochemical machinery of the infected cell for replication. As obligate parasites, viruses must continue to find new host cells and individuals, and be able to use the biochemical machinery of the cell to replicate. Viruses can pass through bacteria stopping filter. Can grow only in living cells, non can grow on an inanimate nutrient media.
Viruses are distinguished from other many bacteria by having an entirely different method of growth and reproduction.
